The ‘whistling stop’ is a bench with a song. The twisting array of stainless steel tubes whistle and sing in harmony as they receive the frequent gusts of a Docklands wind – Filling the pleasure gardens with the sound of an improvised melody that changes like the wind. A version of the ‘singing’ bench was installed in the Pontoon Docks pleasure gardens. The bench has been fabricated with the assistance of furniture fabricators SteelLine. It was published in Wallpaper* magazine in July 2012 and was presented at an RIBA organised Pecha Kucha event shortly before.
